A recent Federal Court of Appeals decision to uphold CMS citations and fines against a Kentucky SNF may be of particular interest to other llong-term care facilities, and perhaps serve as a warning regarding the financial repercussions for improper documentation and failure to adhere to facility policies.
On September 30, the federal Commission on Long-Term Care published its final report of recommendations, a culmination of four meetings conducted between June 27 and August 20 and a final vote on September 12. Specifically, the recommendations focused on issues pertaining to service delivery, workforce, and finance and sought to renew a national discussion regarding challenges that face the long-term care industry.
