MedPAC proposal to be based on quality measures

Sep 13, 2019
The Bottom Line

A recent proposal by the Medicare Payment Advisory Commission (MedPAC) would have payments to post-acute providers based on a small number of risk-adjusted claims, according to a new proposal being drafted.

SNFs, home health, inpatient rehab facilities and long-term acute care hospital Medicare payment would be based on factors such as hospitalizations, spending per beneficiary, and “successful” discharge to the community. There would also be a financial incentive for meeting certain performance goals.
