Routine inspections to resume at nursing homes

Aug 21, 2020
The Bottom Line

CMS announced August 17 that routine inspections will resume for all Medicare and Medicaid certified providers and suppliers. Onsite revisit surveys, non-immediate jeopardy complaint surveys and annual recertification surveys will resume as soon as resources are available. CMS has also provided guidance on resolving enforcement cases that were previously on hold due to survey reprioritization during the pandemic.

Additionally, updates to “Toolkit on State Actions to Mitigate COVID-19 Prevalence in Nursing Homes” will be posted, detailing actions and best practices for both facilities and state agencies.
